Getting Prim n' Proper 4 Prom & Grad

It's almost time for Prom & Varsity Grad so; we've selected a few ideas that can work for this year's major academic celebrations. I suppose the first rule is to ditch the whole floor-length gown that your mom, your aunt and your gran wore to their own Prom Dances....right? Wrong! it all depends on how well you rock it and with the many details that can be added to the typical Prom dress, from doing it one-shoulder, large bows, feathers, the possibilities are endless.
For the short number though; Think tutus and knee-length dresses in the hottest designs and colours. We're loving the royal blues, apple green, rose pink and purple...actually, you won't go wrong with the neon colours - we don't mean blindening neon.
Well, you don't want to look like you just stepped out of a glow party so, take it easy on the shocking colours.
Pastel colours are always the safest bet 'cause you'll want to still appreciate your photos in 10 years time.

Just take a look at what we found on the world wide web:

Beyonce does the Little Black Dress (LBD) right and that sequin detail just gives it character.

Riri's dress is just on point...you can choose to have it long or short...but never in between. We also love Beyonce's little number.

We just love this mixture of feathers and silk. The colour is oozing grace.

When all else fails...go for a black tutu! Not sure why anyone would want to opt for this one when there's so much colour to play around with though but those red heels bring everything to life.

This is for the girl that knows her body and herself. A touch of animal print is all you need to liven up this already alive number.

Simplicity done right! Kourtney does this dress so well. The puffed shoulder is a must-have and that one-shoulder detail is so back too.

Elegant! #ThatsAll

Graceful and classy. You can never go wrong with this fishtail gown and choosing a pastel colour like this one does the trick.

The daring young lady that wants to show off some leg or is it MORE leg...this one's for you.

You need a really good designer to pull this one off but you can let your imagination run wild with the gold sequins.

For that fairytale look...opt for something that spells regal!

The tutu done right in this multi-coloured dress with pointy heels. We love the fusion of colour on this one.

Perhaps this one will do good for the After Party...if you're lucky enough to have one. Those bedazzled shoulders...ooh la la!

Haay bo! beautiful...a cluster of flowers on the one sleeve.

Exquisite!

So, get those designers working...it's never too early to start working on that fabulous design. Remember, this is just a guide. Think out of the box!

  1. Lovely dresses. I normally use Siphalele or Ephraem of Ephymol for putting an outfit together! Any other good designer out there
