The MTN BUSHFIRE 2014 Schools Festival kicked off with a bang as students and teachers from all over the country took part in various workshops in the Malkerns Valley.

Under the tutelage of musicians, artists and other creative industry
professionals, the Schools Festival counters the lack of a formal arts
and culture curriculum in public schools by presenting activities,
workshops, educational seminars and interactive competitions for
participants from high schools throughout Swaziland, and provides
teachers and students with tools to bring continuity and sustainability
to the matter in their schools throughout the year.
Teachers
from schools around Swaziland met at the Malkerns Country Club where they were facilitated by two Arts gurus, Pedro
the Music Man and Abramz Tekya from Uganda in order to workshop ideas
and techniques for inspiring young students in the Arts.

The outcomes
included basic acting, singing and hip hop dances skills, and concepts
on how to work with children on such.
"Our children are our
future, and by empowering our teachers we are investing in that future.
Thank you to all of the teachers and to the facilitators who took part
in this great workshop!" #BringYourFire
