KHOSI SHABALALA: Making women more beautiful, one stroke at a time!

She's absolutely stunning and looks good in every and anything, it helps that she has an equally great heart. When you're so gorgeous and have no issues making others looking as amazing, you definitely stay top of the haters' list.

Her name is Khosi Shabalala, CEO and MD of Ambience Makeup Artistry, who has become a household name in the beauty industry - for obvious reasons. Firstly, she does her own makeup - have you seen those eyebrows on fleek? Her work is nothing short of perfection.
We caught up with her to find out more about what makes her tick and her big plans:

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: Tell us a bit about Ambience Mobile Spa?

Ambience Mobile Spa has become a redundant name to be honest as I now focus on makeup mainly which is why I now go by Ambience Makeup Artistry. I started out wanting to provide all the beauty needs to the ladies who didn't have time to go to beauty spas for their treatments and over time I just found myself doing more makeup than anything else and what started in 2010 as an idea in my head and with more than its fair share of ups and downs, has become the brand for makeup artistry that it is today!

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: Tell us about the upcoming Makeup Masterclass. What can people expect from it?

The upcoming Master Class is basically a mini version of what I did in March. It is a more focused class that has more one on one interaction and also includes practicals with the ladies and again answering more of their makeup related questions. I will be teaching the ladies how to do their brows, day makeup, evening makeup and eyelash application.

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: You did a campaign on gender-based violence, please tell us what it was all about.

Photo cred: Shaka. Models: Menzi & Khosi

KHOSI: The gender based violence shoot was an idea that Shaka approached me about and I jumped at the opportunity. First of all I feel we don't talk enough about such issues even though it is a part of every day life. Secondly it was gratifying to use my skills as an artist to spread such an important message. I am hoping these real issues can be tied in with my work somehow going forward so that we can continue to engage people about speaking about the violence that happens in our homes. I am in my first year towards obtaining a degree in Psychology and so I felt it very relevant towards my end goal which is to help people one day. I am hoping to make the two worlds collide one day and help women take care of themselves from the inside out,

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: What basic makeup tips do you swear by?

I swear by a good cleansing routine...In order for makeup to sit well I swear by a well hydrated and moisturised face! A primer before any foundation or powder application will allow makeup to last longer on your face. A winged eyeliner and bright lipstick makes any face look and feel glamorous for those days when you either don't have time or want to look good with minimum effort.

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: What 5 things don't you ever leave home without?

I never leave home without Mascara, Ruby woo (my best friend), Vaseline (nobody likes an ashy mouth),  Studio Fix powder (MAC) and Face wipes.

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: What's the one thing people probably don't know about you?

The one thing that people probably don't know about me is I have an "honest to God" fear of standing in front of people and addressing them. A fear I have had to confront twice in the past couple of months. I had heavy self image issues before most especially having been so big before I managed to lose the weight but makeup has given me a boost in more ways than one. First of all because it gives me the freedom to look however I want and its entirely at my finger tips and of course the gift every happy client gives me every time I do a job which could be a smile or a simple thank you!

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: We've seen that you do royalty makeup, how does that feel? Care to share whose makeup you've done within royalty?

KHOSI: Well with this one, I am not sure how to answer really...my aunt has been just that all my life and even though she is now a Queen, she was and will always be my ncane and one of my biggest supporters. HRH Inkhosikati Langangaza has been my only makeup client in royalty thus far and it was nerve-wracking at first because she does her own makeup so very well but I am always happy when I do her face because she helps me grow every time. She is just such a humble person and so motherly.

SWAZI STYLE SCENE: What advice can you give to young people on entrepreneurship?

Never give up! no dream is too small and I am testament to hard work paying off. Nobody thought makeup would be so popular one day and now look!

Passion counts for a lot in anything that needs you to possibly stand alone because it gets you through all the ups and the downs. Also do your research just to be certain because it also does not help to just blindly go into something before you check if its feasible or viable, but never give up on your dreams because as cliché as it may sound, anything really is possible when you put your mind to it!

This is definitely one woman to watch!
